Touring and plodding along

Five and a half weeks in!  I visited Edinburgh this past weekend, and it was to die for.  I could have stayed there forever.  The views were breathtaking, the people were charming, and there was such a creative spirit.  I could understand why it's the literary centre of the world.  I was so inspired while I was there.  We toured the underground vaults. They had been businesses, until they got pushed out by the water dripping in.  Those who were impoverished moved in, where they quickly died due to disease, poor air flow, starvation, and dehydration.  Edinburgh erased this from history, and it was only rediscovered in the late 80s when a business owner knocked down a wall to install a walk in fridge; lo and behold, there was a door to the underground!  It was excavated over the course of the next 10 years, and is still in the process.  We saw the National Museum of Scotland, took a bus tour, saw the outside of Holyrood Palace (the queen was there, so we couldn't go in), checked out the Writers' Museum, and took a Harry Potter tour (JK Rowling wrote the books in Edinburgh!).

Back in London, I'm finishing up my internship next week, and working on this paper that's due next Wednesday.  I celebrated my 21st birthday yesterday, and on Sunday we're going to Stonehenge and Bath.  I come home in 17 days, so there's a lot to do before then!
